I was talking to a friend about their dog the other day and the issues they were having – dry skin, hair missing in patches, and uneasiness. They were quite surprised that I mentioned trying CBD to see how that could help their animal. They thought that CBD was only for people. I explained that CBD works with all animals that have a central nervous system. So any type of mammal such as dogs, cats, horses and pigs – as well as reptiles like snakes as so on.
CBD Works in Three Main Ways
- Helps support nervous system communication and function.
- Can help balance the base hormone system.
- Aid in relief from aches, pains, and restlessness.
In a nutshell CBD helps to support different functions of the body, whether human or our pet friends. Think of it like water. Water helps to support the function of the body. So the quality of the CBD, just like the quality of the water, can have a very big impact.
Fact 1. Choose A Quality CBD Oil
CBD has to be grown in a clean environment, so organic is best and will cost more. Be-careful about CBD that seems to be a bargain, these are often extracts or isolates and could be imported from overseas. These only contain part of what the plant has to offer. Full Spectrum CBD is the best on the market, as these use the whole plant in the extraction process – in turn they often contain supporting minerals, vitamins, terpenes and flavonoids.
Zilis UltraCell Full Spectrum CBD Oil as well as Ultracell Pet CBD is made with Organically Sourced Hemp and is a full spectrum product. Every batch of Zilis UltraCell Pet and UltraCell CBD is analysis tested by a 3rd party lab for quality. Each bottle has a QR code on the label that links to the Certificate of Analysis so you can be sure to get the same great quality you expect from each bottle.

Fact 2. No Artificial “Added” Ingredients Wanted
Keep in mind that CBD for people often has flavors and sweeteners added that people would tend to like. But our pets do not need these extra items to make the CBD more palatable. Animals usually like the natural taste of grasses and plants. Zilis Ultracell Pet CBD contains wild Alaskan Salmon Oil to give it a smell and taste animals love. Like my Vet says, the smellier the better, especially for dogs.
Fact 3. Find the Right Amount to Give Your Pet(s)
Since we know that “All CBD Is NOT Created Equal” you should ask the manufacturer of the CBD you are using to help you with the recommended amount for your pet(s). Since we are well versed in Zilis UltraCell and have worked with many people and pets here are some suggestions on dosage for our Pet Friendly CBD products, UltraCell Pet and UltraCell CBD in Raw flavor.
A good quality CBD should be the same with every bottle so the amount given to your Pet will be the same every time.

UltraCell Pet – for Animals 20 Pounds or Less
Zilis Ultracell Pet is a Full Spectrum CBD with Wild Alaskan Salmon that dogs and cats love!
UltraCell Pet states on the label to give at a rate of 1 drop for every 5 pounds of your pets body weight, one to two times per day. This allows a bottle of Zilis Ultracell Pet CBD to last a 20 lb. animal a little over one month.

UltraCell Full Spectrum CBD in RAW – for Animals 40+ Pounds
If you have a larger dog (more than 20 lbs.) it is recommend to use Zilis Ultracell CBD in “RAW”. While this CBD is a human strength, it contains no added flavors or sweeteners making it “Pet Friendly”.
When using Zilis Ultracell CBD Raw, our top Veterinary Advisor suggests to use at 1 drop per 40 pounds of your pets body weight, one to two times per day. So you could share this CBD with your dog, maybe you just don’t want to share the dropper! (Personally I use Zilis Ultracell Raw CBD for myself as I like the natural, earthy taste.)
Note for Animals 20-40 lbs: We recommend using UltraCell CBD in Lemon or Berry flavor for pets weighing between 20 and 40 pounds. The serving size would be 1 drop of UltraCell Lemon or Berry per 20 pounds of body weight once or twice per day. Also if you have horses we can suggest an amount based on their size, simply contact us.
Now that you understand how to identify a good CBD oil for your pet it is just as easy to administer the CBD to your animal and we are happy to share some insight. Every animal is different when it comes to serving size so you should experiment to find the amount that works best for your pet.
Our suggestion is to start with the amount recommended on the product, giving the product daily for several days. Observe your animal, if needed you may administer again later in the day (up to what the manufacturer suggests).
How To Administer
For Dogs: Dispense the drop(s) on the split of their upper lip (below the nose). They will lick it off. OR place the drops on your finger and rub on the dogs upper gum line.
For Cats: Dispense the drops directly on the paw and the cat with groom itself, licking off the drops.
Not ideal, but okay If needed – You may add the drop(s) directly to a treat or the pets food. Be aware that you may need to use twice as much drops this way to get the same effect, due to the digestion process.
